Dawncast is the debut album of Singapore pop trio The Last Aurora. It was released in 2007.

This album spawned four singles, “In That Time”, “Why Don’t You”, and “Relinquishment”, and “Emancipation-The Anticipation”.

The songs from this album are mostly played at concerts.

Title Origin

The title is “Dawncast” because Shen Le want to do a pun on the word “Downcast”. “It’s a downcast day. We’re all getting pretty emo, though this album is mostly pop.” Shen Le said.

Recording

The Last Aurora began writing the lyrics in October. The recording of the instrumental parts of Dawncast took place in November. Finally, the recording of the vocals took place in December. The CDs were provided by Shen Le, the CD booklet printed by Felicia Lau, and the CD covers by Chen Yun. The album took $3 to produce.

Music Style

Before the album's release, band leader Shen Le said in an interview that the album will have a lot of pop.

The album's average track length is 2.7 minutes, with most of the songs lasting for about two minutes.

2. In That Time was about Shen Le’s ex-crush, Joel Yeo.
3. Why Don’t You and 5. Whiteout is about Chen Yun’s quietness.
4. Relinquishment is about how a man want God to save him after making a deal with a demon.
6. Incarceron is based on Catherine Fisher’s book Incarceron, about Shen Le’s father who abuse her.
7. Anybody’s Fool is named after Evanescence’s Everybody’s Fool and Avril Lavigne’s Nobody’s Fool. It is about stupid guys like Alan Ho, Nicholas Seah, and Soong Wei Shun.
8. Emancipation-The Anticipation is about Shen Le trying to save the Earth.
10. Ever After is about how warped fairytales are.
